HBCU Academic Scholarship

The CBF Great Rivers Fellowship HBCU Academic Scholarship is established for graduating seniors completing a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution within the GRF geographic region. The institution is required to be affiliated with a religious denomination.

Students enrolled and in good standing at the following colleges or universities are eligible to apply:

• AR – Philander Smith University - UMC

• AR – Arkansas Baptist College – Baptist

• LA – Dillard University – UCC & UMC

• LA – Xavier University of Louisiana - Catholic

• MS – Rust College - UMC

• MS – Tougaloo College – UCC & Disciples of Christ

The scholarship will be awarded during the applicant’s senior year with an application deadline of March 30 in the last semester of their junior year.

Qualifications for applying include:

1. Enrollment at an accredited college or university within the GRF Region affiliated with a religious denomination.

2. Graduating senior for a spring graduation date.

3. Applications accepted during the spring semester before the fall of the senior year with certification of enrollment as a student in good standing.

4. Scholarship is awarded for the fall semester of the senior year.

5. Grade Point Average – 3.00 or above, with copy of an official transcript.

6. Completion of the HBCU Academic Scholarship application. Mail completed application to:

7. Career aspiration or graduate school enrollment in an area of ministry, church service, or social justice area, i.e., pastoral ministry, staff musician, church administrator, or community leadership advocacy.

8. Statement of interest expressing your interest in the HBCU Academic Scholarship and plans beyond the undergraduate degree, graduate school, or career plans. Also include church/community involvement and faith journey, church membership/attendance during college/university (name of church, City, State) and leadership involvement in church, community and college or university life.

8. Letter of recommendation from an academic professor.

9. Church membership/attendance during college/university (name of Church, City and State).

10. Leadership involvement in church, community and college or university life
